At Plenderleath Runcie, we can assist in the preparation of a will. We offer a personal service and can assist you in your decision-making process. We can discuss who you may want to appoint as executors and who you want to leave your assets to.
We will ensure that your wishes are clearly documented and if you are unable to come in to see us, we can arrange a home or hospital visit.
Whereas the writing of most wills is a simple and straightforward process, more complex wills may require a trust set up or involve technical inheritance tax matters. If this is the case, we can provide advice on these issues and liaise with more specialist advisers if needed.
The death of a loved one can be a traumatic time. The paperwork and formalities involved in winding up an estate only adds to the stress. That’s why we aim to make the whole process as easy for the family as possible.
Some estates can be wound up without the need for Confirmation (the Scottish from of Probate) and in other cases Confirmation needs to be obtained through the Sheriff Court. We can prepare the forms to obtain Confirmation, deal with any inheritance tax issues and gather in the estate.
If there is a will involved, we will work with the executors to ensure that the deceased’s wishes are carried out. If there is no will, we can arrange for an executor to be appointed through the courts and for the estate to be divided as laid down by law.
